Canadian Writers Rock

I went to the Bookstore a couple of months ago and did something different. I started reading the reviews on the inside cover of the books. I found that every book has someone who is willing to say somethnig nice about it (why else would it get published), but the really good books received warm reviews by fellow writers.

So I bought one with some particularly glowing remarks. I bought Steven Eriksons "Gardens of the Moon". It was awesome. So over the past eight weeks I have purchased the whole series (so far) and just gobbled it up. A great read. One of my favorites so far. It hasn't dried into minutia like Robert Jordan's diatribe, and he manages to keep the plot line moving swiftly despite going in different directions and creating new characters all the time... it's fascinating.

I digress...

Next new author I buy from will have a great review by an author I know and like to see if I just got lucky or to see if I am on to something.

Oh yeah... and linking to the title of this blog... I just found out that Steven Erikson is Canadian... just like one of my other favorites Guy Gavriel Kay.

Canadian Writers Rock (so far 2 for 2)
