Time Warp

Do you know those days when time seems to speed up. You look at the clock one minute and then you look again and four hours have passed and you didn't even notice. Today was just such a day. It really blows my mind how fast time can fly when you are having fun.

I am totally enjoying this book-selling business. Meeting and chatting with people all day and cleaning up and arranging books. I have especially been enjoying the children. They come in and are so excited to see the books and the fish and the wooden blocks. They really brighten the day.

Life is good.

Boy have things changed

I haven't posted on here for three years and looking at my last post it becomes obvious how things have changed in my life.

Purchasing property in Nova Scotia was a Huge mistake. That capital letter on the word 'Huge' is on purpose because it was a monumental error. I learned first hand how easy it is to be ripped off repeatedly when you are thousands of kilometres from your properties. The good property manager we had only lasted three months before a personal crisis made her resign. After that initial good start it was all bad news, and I lost my shirt in the process.

It wasn't all bad though. My wife and children got to spend a summer in Nova Scotia, and my youngest in particular had a wonderful time there. She still talks about it. In addition I learned a lot, and they say that education is expensive so I guess I am OK with that.

After some introspection we decided that life was too short to put off our dreams, and so we made a big move this spring in relocating from Edmonton to Vancouver Island in order to open a bookstore and try living more simply. We are currently living on an acreage in Duncan and have been enjoying a fine summer here. The bookstore is doing well so far and I have high hopes that it will one day (soon) put food on our table.
