Nanowrimo

Hi all,
I have been part of an international effort called Nanowrimo. For those of you uninitiated into the world of Nanowrimo please let me explain. Nanowrimo is National Novemember writing month. Check it out at nanowrimo.org. The whole thing is based upon writing a 50,000 word novel in a month. If you do, then you win! Win what, you ask. Why you win the recognition of having "done it" on the Nanowrimo website... nothing more than that. Sound ludicrous? It is. But it has been a godsend for me. Let me tell you why.

It is November 29, and I have 48,000 words of a Novel down in virtual paper. That never would have happened without a deadline. I was the guy in University who pulled all nighters and procrastinated to beat all. I usually got the job done, but I needed a deadline. Now I have noe. An artificial ridiculous one, but a deadline just the same, and now I have something to work with. It may never be a publishable work, but it is a darn site better than anythnig else I have ever done, and it proves to me that YES, I could write a novel. That was worth every hour spent typing after my kids went to bed... every lunch hour at work that I spent, and every weekend afternoon that was devoted to theis crazy project. To know that I CAN is very important.

Maybe someday someone will even want to read it, but that is secondary at this point.

NANOWRIMO

Heh Heh... I discovered this neat thing called National November writing month. It's just bunch of people creating a deadline so that you actually write some prose before you edit to death. Al l you do is sign up, and the way to win is to do a Novle of 50,000 words or more by the end of the month. I discovered it late, but I am 10% of the way there and 50% through the month... it's time to step on the gas and kick some ass.

My internet connection is super slow, yet I pay for hgih speed... what's the deal... what a rip...

OK - go oilers go...

and
Bye
